THE VAGUS NERVE

THE VAGUS NERVE

THE CONNECTION BETWEEN OUR BRAIN AND BREATHING

vagus nerve

Did you know that deep breathing stimulates the vagus nerve?

The vagus nerve originates in the skull and medulla oblongata, runs down each side of the neck, crosses the chest, and extends to the abdomen, supplying nerves to many organs, including the lungs, heart, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, stomach, kidneys, and the small and large intestines.

Therefore, over its long course, it directly affects breathing.

Deep breathing stimulates the "calming" part of the vagus nerve, leading to a calmer emotional state.

After taking five or six deep breaths, you’ll start to notice the change.

Once you’re taking that deep breath and approaching yourself with curiosity and kindness, you can try to identify and name all the emotions that are coming up and try to figure out what’s triggering them.

This helps our brain and our breathing work together in harmony, including our emotions.

With Antigym®, you can work on your breathing by stimulating the vagus nerve, helping to calm your body and mind.

Connecting the body and mind through breathing is both essential and rewarding. It helps relieve emotional pain and muscle tension.
